Flying Cubes by gsw953onDA Flying Cubes by gsw953onDA
Since DA has removed all my skins for some unknown reason(my requests for an explanation have gone unanswered) I am sorry to say I will no longer be uploading Rainmeter skins here.
I am assuming they were removed because they contained an .exe.What exe?you ask. They use fediaFedia's awesome Skin Config tool [link]
If anyone had bothered to look at the previews, read the description or even read any of the comments, which were all positive and from long standing members, they would have known this!
So since DA's policy seems to be to remove skins from established artists that have all positive comments and to allow stolen virus infested skins to be posted then I for one will be happy to no longer share my works here.
If you are a fan of my skins and would like any of them, they are available at WinCustomize, where the upload standards are much higher and Flying Cubes is the 2nd most downloaded skin of all time!

The awesome wallpaper used for the preview is Time Machiner by jazzilady [link]

It would have been appreciated if you would have given my name as the wallpaper creator! All my works are under copyright laws.

Thanks, I would appreciate it. I probably wouldn't have even noticed, but I was looking through your artwork. It's very impressive and I am honored that you would use my wallpapers! Renee'

Here is 16 [link]

When I made the original skin I left out 1,2,3,and 4.
my reasoning was I thought that no one would ever have less than 5% ram loaded.
do you think I am wrong on that,I could make them up for you,if you think that they are needed.
Plus I think I was getting tired of making images at the time, you see how many are involved, lol

Just out of curiosity, how did you get your taskbar to look like that? I really like it's simplicity. Also, love the cubes!

Also, if you were to change your format to .rmskin, you could upload it to our Rainmeter Group's gallery [link] We check for malware before accepting, so most users know that they can go to our gallery within dA and safely download skins.

Also check the blogpost I've been keeping updated, it show the magnitude of this latest malware attack [link]

Thanks Karen
Once I hear back from DA staff as to officially why my skins were removed I will reconsider re-uploading them and submitting them to the Rainmeter Group.
I think the point of this post is just to say, sure there is an issue with bad skins being posted but just deleting skins without actually checking isn't the proper way to solve it.

There's definitely problems here, have been for quite some time. They are promising a few changes that should stop the malware, but we'll believe it when it happens.

Make no mistake. The way deviantART has their system set up now, it is almost as if someone sat down and said "How can we make the site as easy as possible to upload malware to, put a process in place that ensures that the malware stays for days and weeks being downloaded by our users, and give the users and community absolutely no power to do anything about it?"

It is a disaster of a process they have in place, with all power to the malware authors and none to the community. No trusted moderators in areas that really need them due to executables being uploaded, no ability to stop malware authors from blocking warning comments, a reporting/review/delete process that is slower than the Exxon Valdez doing a 360, a completely useless "clam" antivirus on the back-end testing uploads (basically it catches nothing as far as I can see), a support staff that does not work on weekends, ensuring that anything uploaded Friday is there until Monday at the minimum, and in general a process and attitude that is based on the early days of deviantART, when it was mostly .jpg/.png files being posted.

I truly understand the frustration you and many of the older skin creators must be going through.I know you guys have worked hard for many years to make Rainmeter into the awesome product it has become.
What bothers me about having my skins removed is that simply reading any of the comments would have assured the staff that the skins were real and did not contain anything harmful as most of the comment were from people who have been members for years.
I understand that some skins will be removed by mistake but only being given a notice of removal with no reason other than it violates DA policy and a case number does not help.
I only zip my skins because I like to include a preview and a instruction and credit note, the skin itself is in .rmskin format.I guess in the future it would be better to put the instructions into the skins folder.I only leave them separate to make it easier for new Rainmeter users to find.
Hopefully DA can find a solution to this malware problem as I see it is now spreading to the other Customization Categories.

In fairness to deviantART, they are currently trying to deal with an extreme attack on their site, while living in a system and process that just makes it almost impossible for them to do anything of value about it. They are completely overwhelmed and outgunned with this current malware issue, but they ARE trying. I'm not surprised that a skin or two gets caught up in the madness and deleted when it shouldn't have been, and that is certainly regrettable.

If you do decide to put your skin back up here, and I encourage it, you might consider creating a .rmskin instead of a .zip. This will avoid it being flagged as one of those malware uploads that puts "FullInstall.exe" in the root of the .zip hoping to catch an unwary user, and is easier for the user to install in Rainmeter in any case.
