Here is the final version of Gray8 There was only a few slight changes to the theme so if you have the beta version there is really no need to update, you may not even notice!
To install this theme you first need to patch your system to be able to use custom themes. I use this patcher- [link]
Once this is done Copy the gr8 folder and the gr8.theme from inside the theme folder to Windows\Resources\Themes.Then right click on your desktop and choose Personalize select Gray 8 in your themes section.
The transparency is added by using this app- [link] only the older version download seems to be working.
The Start Menu is brought back by using StatIsBack [link]
The ribbon is removed using Ribbon Disabler by hb860 [link]
Also included are a couple of modified system files The timedate.cpl changes your clock to match the theme And the shell32.dll withh allow the theme to change the side and top images in the Control Panel windows,it also changes some icons to black and white.
These files are for 64 bit systems only, and are to replace the ones in your System32 folder. The shell32.dll in this download is version 6.2.9200.16433 If you need a new version check the one in the color pac download [link]
CAUTION-THE SHELL32.DLL IS VERY HARD TO GET CHANGED! IF IT DOESN'T CHANGE PROPERLY YOU MAY NEED TO REINSTALL WINDOWS 8 SO BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO CHANGE IS MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A PROPER FULL BACKUP OF YOUR SYSTEM! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED,SO DON'T CRY TO ME IF SOMETHING GOES WRONG AND YOU LOST DATA BECAUSE YOU DIDN'T DO A FULL BACKUP FIRST! This is not the fault of the file but has to do with the added security in Windows 8. With that being said the safest way to change the shell32.dll I have found is using Seven File by Replacer [link]
The icons used in the preview are Token by brsev and were all manually changed. [link]
Also be sure to check out the modded version of this theme that ezio has made [link]
Free free to share or modify this theme how ever you want Just give me some credit and link back to here please. If you mod it send me a link I would like to see what you did
I did, but not with the right patch. Works fine now, thanks ! Nevertheless the transparency tool doesnt seem to make my browsers very transparent (it works with the explorer and I have ticked everything in 'Setup and Info')... Thanks a lot though
